February Haiku
2/1
I have come to learn
Mothers ride tsunami waves;
my heart’s a surfer.
2/2
The road is long, but
there’s a boy who walks with me -
his smile is worthwhile.
2/3
After a long week,
pizza, sunshine, and some wine.
At last, some pleasure.
2/4
The mind will not still.
An itch that knows no relief;
peace - a long ways off.
2/5
Fog lifted today.
Sunlight does a world of good;
Mind Disinfectant.
2/6
Sunset bathes the tide;
ocean waves strum salty air -
My favorite tune.
2/7
I’ve fallen in love
with an instagram poet.
He’s like an old friend.
2/8
Civility - lost.
My faith in humanity,
it dwindles daily.
Hold fast traditions
to share a smile with the past,
Still time in my palm.
2/9
Cotton candy clouds
fairy gardens and hobbit houses;
a make-believe world
2/10
Memories haunt us;
Ghosts linger in doorways daily,
and we learn to cope.
2/11
When we laugh through tears,
eyes well as a smile curls.
There is harmony.
2/12
A book, a blanket,
cup of tea to ended the day:
a soft place to land.
2/13
I stare at embers,
letting heat build for the day:
Fiery Spirit.
2/14
Love love love love love
Celebrate it every day.
There’s nothing more to say.
2/15
Express gratitude.
Kindness, fire in darkness,
must be acknowledged.
2/16
Finally Friday.
Survival was this week’s goal:
Mission accomplished.
2/17
Vineyards bathed in pink.
Cotton candy clouds whisper
a red wine love song.
2/18
Is it better to
know the familiar, or to
be surprised by new?
2/19
Finally sunlight.
It warms my face, soul, and spirit:
REJUVENATION
2/20
When the heart explodes,
shrapnel litter the war zone;
words become weapons.
2/21
Next generation:
There is pride in the future.
We are rising up.
2/22
Some days are listless:
gray skies, drizzle, clouds hang long.
Fog in mind and air.
2/23
Laughter and sunshine
Broad smiles come so easily
Old friends unite.
2/24
Twenty-one year old
INVINCIBILITY BOY
His momma prays hard.
2/25
I count syllables
in the darkness, before dawn,
and then POOF: they’re gone.
2/26
A pen is my sword.
You’d better have a strong shield.
I drive a sharp point.
2/27
Counting again - five
Just words on a page - seven
Haiku haiku - five
2/28
There are some people
whose mere presence is healing.
Surround yourself well.
2/29
Listen to others
Learn to hear their hearts and souls
Practice empathy.
