Cape Cod, Summer 2022

We spent a wonderful, “just-us-four” week on Cape Cod this month. As I’m going through 1029 pictures, I get to relive our trip and savor each moment once again. This is our fifth summer to this precious little space we’ve come to treasure. It’s an escape, our place to unwind, refresh, reset, and remember how to connect with each other as a family.

I’ve been lucky to travel up and down the east coast for most of my life. I’ve spent many summer vacations in New England: Kennebunkport, Rockport, Camden, Freeport, Portland, Buzzard’s Bay, Niantic, Glouster, and the Cape. None of it ever gets old - from the little used bookstore to the swordfish tacos and fried shrimp plates to the lighthouses. Each glimpse of the ocean from atop the dunes, each swirling symphony at sunset take my breath away each and every time. My boys wonder why I keep looking back, why I stop and just stare — because I can’t get enough of it. I want to drink in every ounce of beauty, of peace, of restoration these sights bring me.

We did have a little (mis)adventure in an attempt to see some sunbathing seals. Up and over a dune on a more than half-mile trek through some serious sand, I thought for sure I was going to have a mutiny on my hands. Sadly, we missed the sandbar at low tide, but we did get to see some faces swimming along in this little cove we discovered.

Here’s a little more wildlife from the Cape … #luckyus
